Recruitment by name

Recruitment by name means that companies and employers can request the recruitment of specific foreign workers at the Federal Labour Office. If an employer simply requests a number of unspecified foreign workers – which today usually happens in regard to seasonal workers in agriculture or tourism – it is called anonymous recruitment. During the time of the labour recruitment agreements in West Germany, foreign workers often recommended friends or family members to their employers who then requested their recruitment by name.
