Automation

Automation means the process of reducing human labour and replacing it with machinery. Automation was introduced by Henry Ford in the 1920s. Depending on the level of the use of machines instead of human labour, a production process can be described as fully or partially automated. The objective of automation can on the one hand be the reduction of workforce salaries and the increase of production, while on the other hand automation can facilitate monotonous tasks.
